In the RISE Culinary Institute project, I focused on empowering underserved communities by redesigning a website that serves as a bridge between aspiring culinary trainees, passionate donors, and dedicated volunteers. The goal was to create an inclusive, user-centered digital experience that amplifies RISE’s mission transforming lives through culinary education and opportunity.
Through an iterative design process grounded in empathy and accessibility, I conducted user research, stakeholder interviews, and competitive analysis to identify major usability gaps. These included an unclear donation flow, poor visibility of volunteer opportunities, and overwhelming navigation for first-time trainees. These insights guided every design decision, from structure to storytelling.
To address these challenges, I implemented intuitive navigation, impact-driven content, and simplified user flows across applications, donations, and volunteering. Each feature was designed with the needs of the target users in mind, students needing guidance, donors seeking transparency, and volunteers looking for ways to help. The final website design is not only visually inviting but also optimized for trust-building and ease of engagement.
This project showcases my ability to translate real-world social impact goals into effective digital solutions. I developed personas, journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes, and conducted usability testing with diverse users. The result is a responsive platform that fosters community, drives donations, and empowers culinary careers.
By navigating constraints such as user diversity, limited resources, and emotional sensitivity, I delivered a redesign that is scalable, human-centered, and mission-aligned. The RISE Culinary Institute website is more than a digital platform, and it’s a catalyst for change, growth, and opportunity.
